An embattled former bank executive committed suicide by crashing his van after killing his wife and making failed attempts to asphyxiate their four children inside a garage, then slaying them individually, authorities said Tuesday.Steven Sueppel, who has been charged with embezzlement, was missing after his family's bodies were found Monday morning. His van was discovered wrecked and ablaze on Interstate 80 about nine miles away, and police said they used dental records to spot the burned body inside as Sueppel's.In a news conference Tuesday, investigators said they presume he killed his wife, then experimented with kill himself and his awesome children by asphyxiating them with co in the garage. When that failed, he killed the kids one by one in the house.Investigators think the youngsters died by "blunt force trauma," though autopsies usually are not complete, Lt. Jim Steffen said. Two baseball bats has been used and appeared to be examined, he said."Steven has become the only one who knew why he did what he did, and i also don't know that we're ever likely to be able to determine the actual reason why this happened," Steffen said.As soon as the children died, Sueppel attemptedto drown himself from the Iowa River with no success. He then made a 911 call directing officers to his home plus some minutes later crashed in to a freeway abutment.Sueppel left a long note within the family's kitchen addressed to no person in particular. He also left voice mail messages at the family's home, at the bank where he once worked and also at the law office of his father and brother. One of many messages indicated Sueppel believed his family was at heaven, Steffen said."He did indicate as part of his note that ever since his problems came to light that he was having difficulty dealing with this issue, but again no specific incident or cause was defined as to why it happened now," Steffen said. "He apologized ... numerous times."Police identified the children as Ethan, 10; Seth, 8; Mira, 5; and Eleanor, 3.Their bodies were found during the entire home. Two were in upstairs bedrooms, one inch a basement bedroom and the other in a basement toy room. Sheryl Sueppel's body was discovered in the master bedroom. The 911 call made early Monday alerting police for the family's home near Iowa City appeared from Sueppel's cell phone, police said.About six minutes after Sueppel's call, more 911 calls poured directly into dispatchers, reporting that a minivan had crashed in to a concrete abutment in the median of Interstate 80 east of town. One caller sobbed as she described seeing the burning minivan, that have crashed head-on into the abutment."Oh, my God, the car's on fire," the woman sobs. "I would certainly stop and help but the car's on fire."Court records reveal that Steven Sueppel, 42, was indicted last month on charges of stealing about $560,000 from Hills Bank and Trust in Johnson County, where he was v . p . and controller.Sueppel pleaded innocent to embezzlement and money laundering in U.S. District Court and was launched on a $250,000 personal bond. "When <Sueppel> … was questioned concerning the discrepancies," the indictment states, in line with the Chicago Tribune, "he admitted to bank officials that he was responsible for taking over $219,000 over a three-year period. Steven Francis Sueppel told bank officials which he used most of the monies for cocaine purchases."The government has also been seeking the forfeiture of the money he was accused of stealing. His trial was scheduled for April 21. buy mulberry
Just when you thought the dust had settled for awhile around the explosive Heather Mills McCartney story, all of it blows up again, observes CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips."She's highly excited," says show business commentator Neil Sean, "goes on television, and lets it all come out, rather than possibly going to see a psychiatrist!" Mills McCartney had gone on TV to give angry interviews, Phillips explains, hitting almost every morning show from the English-speaking world. She was accusing ex-Beatle and soon to be ex-husband Paul McCartney's camp of purposely sullying her image whilst she stayed mum about McCartney, in the interest of their daughter, as his or her bitter divorce battle intensified. "I've had worse press than the usual pedophile or a murderer," she cried using one show.Mills McCartney made it happen all against the advice of her publicity consultant -- who then quit. Mills McCartney had also antagonized her high-priced lawyers, that she also severed ties. Now, reports Phillips, she's hired controversial Hollywood hairdresser and publicity agent Michele Elyzabeth to manage her public image. With an accent from the Champs Elysee using the Sunset Strip, the self-styled French aristocrat is a lot more famous for her caviar facials than high-profile P.R., Phillips notes. But she is going to now dedicate her video blog to singing Mills McCartney's praises." Photos: Heather Mills McCartney Elyzabeth says Mills McCartney is "a wonderful one who very, very few people know personally. A great deal of press people think that they can trash her up to they want to. And the primary reason that I decided to start this site, which I will do once per week, is to take every fake article and lying article apart is because somebody's got to undertake it, and it's my job." So when, after Mills McCartney's TV marathon, Barbara Walters said on "The View" that she didn't think Heather would be a very nice person when she met her, Elyzabeth stuck up for Mills McCartney, saying, "Barbara Walters 'people,' as well as 'The View,' made a decision to trash Heather for your third time. ... That are they to have an opinion of the Heather should say you aren't say?" Michele can have more work on her plate, it seems, with the upcoming publication of an unflattering book on Heather, Phillips suggests. Laying her hard-nosed attitude and checkered history as a result of her poor and rough childhood, it reportedly quotes Heather saying she hoped to find a rich and powerful man of her for the power it would bring her.McCartney, he she found, meanwhile, has taken the high road, staying quiet and providing Heather as much rope as she needs, Phillips says."Is he betting she'll self-destruct, and is that what she's doing?" he asked Sean, the showbiz commentator."I think," Sean replied, "she is definitely self-destructing, but she's a hardcore woman. She's probably had a plate of steel in their back. There's not an issue with her. She claims that she's wearing down and near suicide ... however, there is a woman who occurs on breakfast TV very at the outset of the morning, glossed, hair, everything, that is not a woman falling apart. Which is a woman out for revenge."And maybe, Phillips says, with a brand new cause. McCartney has recently been seen in the company of a wealthy, married The big apple woman with whom he became friendly on the Hamptons social circuit. Both the were seen walking along an extended Island beach, and sharing a much-publicized goodbye kiss. What's Mills McCartney's overall plan now?"I think," Phillips remarks, "if you are trying to put a rational framework around heather's strategy, that is certainly a risky business currently, it would be the 'pain-in-the-neck' strategy. One of several central issues on this divorce battle is apparently whether or not she gets to share with the tale, provide her sort of the divorce, and what was wrong with all the marriage, and regardless of whether there's a restriction about what she can say. This looks like it's very much a lesson from the kinds of things she might bypass saying, if she doesn't the kind of deal she would like from him. But, there is also to remember as well that there's a child involved in this, and whether or not it's the money or the keep-still clause, that's (their daughter) really what are the issue of this whole divorce seems to be about." mulberry bayswater black
The frenetic effort to drill into the presumed location of six workers held in a collapsed mine yielded no audible evidence survivors early Friday. But rescuers cautioned their job isn't done which air quality in the mine could sustain life.Using a steel drill bit to bore a 2?-inch wide hole greater than 1,800 feet to the mountain site of Monday's cave-in, rescuers finally broke through late Thursday in the cavity where authorities believe the miners are trapped. A crude measurement found enough oxygen to help keep the men going if they survived the collapse. But a microphone dropped in to the void failed to grab any sounds indicating the miners are alive. And though the air sample indicated lots of oxygen and no methane within the pocket, it also would not pick up carbon dioxide, the gas exhaled when folks breathe.Despite the silence, company officials remained hopeful."I wouldn't see it as good or bad news. The work is not done," said Bob Murray, chairman of Murray Energy Corp., who added early Friday that oxygen levels suggested when the men survived the collapse, "they're gonna stay alive in this atmosphere."The air sample was utilized by the cavity via a steel tube, which has a microphone attached to get any signs of life.Relatives must not be discouraged by the lack of carbon dioxide, an attorney for the company said."What you've got was a quick sample from the crude instrument, so you don't get all the constituents reported," said attorney Christopher Van Bever.Meanwhile, drilling continued over a second, wider hole, that could accommodate a powerful camera to provide a view inside the pocket, deliver water and food, and hopefully offer a more definitive answer concerning the miners' fate.Work also continued within the mine itself, where rescuers were slowly burrowing through the debris to reach the employees."It's incredibly labor-intensive," said Rob Moore, second in command of Murray Energy. In the event the miners are alive, they might be sitting in inky darkness, their headlamps likely having burned out. Wearing thin work clothes inside the 58-degree Fahrenheit cold, they are often chilled to the bone if water is seeping within their chamber 150 stories underground, other miners say. Murray said each miner would most often have had a half-gallon of water.During the collapse the six miners were employed in an area with an 8-foot ceiling. Corridors in the mine are typically about 14 feet wide.CBS News correspondent John Blackstone reports what they are of the six guys are familiar to most in the mining community.Manuel Sanchez, 42, is often a father of four who may have worked in several from the area's coal mines. Juan Carlos Payan from Sinaloa, Mexico, has moved his family to Utah. Don Erikson left them with an auto-shop job for better pay inside the mine. Luis Hernandez is father of the 1-year-old girl. Brandon Phillips, 24, started employed in the mine just three weeks ago. And 58-year-old Kerry Allred is often a veteran miner known for his jokes. The men's families were praying for his or her survival, one relative said."There are types of conditions that may be in there for these folks ... some little cavity, some little corner," said Arch Allred, cousin of Kerry Allred. ugg waterproof boots

Udaya Nanayakkara. A 45-year old man who identified himself only as Nalaka said he was thrown from his motorcycle by the explosion."When I obtained up I saw the actual bus and quickly had it. Some people lay dead. Others were bleeding," he told AP Television News. "I heard somebody screaming 'help, help,' and i also rushed to him, on the other hand could not move him while he was heavy."Hours later, another blast occurred in the bus in the hills with the central Kandy district, killing two passengers and wounding 20 other folks, said police spokesman Ranjith Gunasekara. The rebels, blamed for many suicide bombings and other attacks on civilians, are listed like a terrorist group by the United States, the European Union and India. They are believed to have been behind a great time Wednesday that wounded 19 people on the passenger train in Colombo.Following your first attack Friday, President Mahinda Rajapaksa called on Sri Lankans to "remain vigilant from the forces of terror."With a lot of the fighting happening hundreds of miles on the north, the recent attacks have shaken the south, you will find Sri Lanka's Sinhalese majority, and left residents petrified of more to come."I have no idea how this war has fought in the north. that only on the television. But, it now seems world war 2 has come to the capital," said Roshan Dhammika, a 30-year-old who drives a motorized rickshaw.Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry said 17 rebels and five soldiers were killed Thursday in fighting surrounding the rebel stronghold in the north. The clashes happened Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya and Welioya districts, a military official said on condition of anonymity, citing government rules. This week's attacks gave the impression to also boost already strong support for your war among people in Colombo."What else can you do against a ruthless terrorist group. The LTTE now really wants to stop operations within the north as they are suffering defeats. That's why they target civilians," said Ganesh Wijenayake, a 45-year-old businessman in Colombo, by using a common acronym for that insurgents. The Tigers, formally called the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, have fought since 1983 to generate an independent homeland for Sri Lanka's Tamil minority, which has been marginalized by successive governments controlled by the Sinhalese majority. A lot more than 70,000 individuals have been killed.Since a long-standing peace process eliminate nearly two years ago, fighting involving the Tigers and government forces has steadily escalated along the northern front lines and in the east, in which the military last year overran rebel-controlled enclaves. But the rebels still run a de facto state in much of northern Sri Lanka, and the government says it promises to completely crush the insurgents by the end of the year - a threat diplomats along with other observers doubt Colombo has the ability to achieve.Since the addition of the year, more than 200 civilians have already been killed by bombings in rebel and government territory, according to the U.N.
