http://taniaroxborogh.com/uggclassicmini-uk.html Residents of Chappaqua, N.Y., figured it might be okay to use the presidential seal in the interests of a fundraiser. After all, the initial Family had just purchased a home in their community, and they'll be living there when President Clinton leaves office. As CBS News Entertainment Reporter Mark McEwen reports, they figured wrong. The T-shirts, which are being sold by the Horace Greeley Educational Fund in Chappaqua, bear the seal with all the words "Secret Service, Chappaqua Bureau, Presidential Detail" underneath. However the White House has ordered the group to stop making the shirts because the seal is protected by government statute. Unauthorized technique seal can be punishable by as much as six months in jail.Robert Bernstein, the education fund's president, received the warning letter from the White House Counsel.Robert Bernstein defintely won't be selling any more T-shirts with the presidential seal. "Basically they informed us that the presidential seal is not public domain and it's a criminal act doing his thing and we had stop immediately," said Bernstein. When asked if receiving this stern letter tightened up his innards, Bernstein admitted it had.The viewers had been selling the shirts briskly at $15 apiece. The initial 11 dozen Chappaqua shirts out of stock in September, and more orders were to arrive. But now, "We have to give them away," said Bernstein."When we heard the president was moving in, we thought, 'Oh, we have to do a shirt for Chappaqua,'" said Wendy S. Nolan, a true estate broker. She said she got the concept from a similar shirt she saw on Rhode Island's Block Island after a presidential visit there.White House counsel spokesman Jim Kennedy declared, even though "We always try to do everything we can to benefit education," there was no exception for charitable uses of the seal. The counsel's office sends out 60 to 100 similar notices every year, he said.Bernstein said that Kennedy told him there is nothing wrong with giving the remainder of the shirts away.Since the first lady is anticipated to make education a central issue in their own likely U.S. Senate campaign, perhaps she "can constitute the difference," Bernstein said.
http://fotoristo.com/uggbootsonsalewarm.html That slab of steak that countless Americans avoided for so several years is suddenly acceptable again, CBS News Correspondent Jeffrey Kofman reports. Just ask Don Leeds and Michele Magazine. Beef eaters ick out from it. "I've eaten more meat during the last six months than I've eaten during the last 15 years," Leeds says. There's new enthusiasm in the cattle markets, too. Why is this so? For years demand has been declining, but this year it is up 4 % over 1998, and so are prices. "We are creating more beef than we have ever done before in the nation's history," explains Chuck Leavitt, senior livestock analyst, Alaron Trading Corporaton. "A brand-new record for beef production, and cattle costs are trending higher. That hasn't happened in 24 years." There are several reasons why cattle are such hot commodities, such as a strong economy, strong exports, and all sorts of those millennium parties. But if you really want to know why beef is such demand, don't visit the butcher, go to the bookstore. High-protein, low-carbohydrate diet books have snagged the very best four places on The Nyc Times Best Sellers List. The gospel as outlined by all these books is protein -- knowning that means meat.Popularity comes at a cost, especially for premium cuts. They've never been higher priced. According to meat buyer Charlie Gagliardo, "Now complete thing . to have a good steak. Everybody."The beef industry worries which simply as the New Year's demand will pass, also the fashion for high protein diets. Don and Michelle are both on those diets, but both insist their new adoration for red meat will remain, even when the diet is gone. "My diet is more controlled while i eat meat," Magazine says. "I'm less hungry later."Beef producers are hoping that once Americans get a taste, they'll remain bullish on beef.
http://gcthulin.com/pinkuggs-uk.html It was a big weekend on the box office, and if the thing is that any kids running toward a motion picture theater, you better stay out of their way. Pokemon madness has hit the top screen, leaving the competition behind. Earlier Show Correspondent Gail O'Neill reports. The cute, cuddly creatures have arrived from Japan. Pokemon: The very first Movie stormed into theaters making $52 million within its first 10 days."Kids have always liked superheroes, you realize. There is a vicarious thrill when a powerless child sees these little creatures, you understand, conquering the world. Also, it is something parents don't get," notes Entertainment Weekly magazine senior editor Jess Cagle. The film also had going for it some Burger King tie-ins and licensees, plus Veterans Day, which allowed the show to have a strong second day, adds Cagle. "It would definitely open huge, but they really did an incredible job with it."And interviewed kids felt their expectations were fully met. "I like Pikachu and this is great!" says one girl. A bit boy expressed his enjoyment to the film's action, adding that Pokemon was "cool." "This is a huge crossover phenomenon the likes of which we've never seen,?…not only crossing over from boys to girls, but all ethnicities," says Cagle. Pokemon Mania The latest kid's movie is taken on by the real critics -- five kids. And while the kids were busy with Pokemon, the adult audience found Kevin Smith's religious satire, Dogma. "The surprising aspect of Dogma is that it has played well from coast to coast, even in areas of the country which might be considered conservative," notes Cagle. "I think it may be very controversial, but the way they managed it was as noncontroversial as possible, noted men viewer. More News"I could see how a lot of people would be offended by it, but it was very humorous and entertaining," women moviegoer says. "I think with Dogma, the reviews helped. The fact it is a comedy also helped. And look at the cast, you've got Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and the secret weapon of most movies: Chris Rock," Cagle says.In lots of cities, moviegoers had to cross lines of protesters only to see the film. But protests aside, the film did much better than expected. The following are some of the numbers from this weekend's box office returns: BOX OFFICE PLUS POKEMON: The 1st MOVIE $32.4 million THE BONE COLLECTOR $12.O million DOGMA $8.8 million THE MESSENGER $6.3 million ANYWHERE BUT HERE $5.7 million©1999 CBS Worldwide Inc. http://www.rotarysouth.org/michaelkors-com.html Commercial hunters abetted by wars and logging information mill a grave threat to chimpanzees across central Africa, renowned chimp conservationist Jane Goodall said Tuesday."The hunters are now able to go deep into the forest simply because they ride on the logging trucks while driving that have been built by the logging companies," Goodall told a news conference. Chaos and armed conflict in central Africa has made it difficult to enforce laws protecting the animals, she said.Hunters shoot chimpanzees after which smoke and sell the meat, "even shipping rid of it to exotic restaurants," said Goodall, that has been studying chimpanzees in northwestern Tanzania for 40 years.Hunting and the destruction of forests for firewood and timber have reduced the chimpanzee population in 21 African nations from 2 million a century ago to 220,000 today, she said.As they are very slow breeders and present birth only at five year intervals, she said, the species may be on its way to extinction if there's nothing done to protect the animals and their habitat.Goodall said when she arrived in Gombe National Park in 1960, 150 chimpanzees lived there. Together with the encroachment of refugees from Congo who kill chimps for food and quite often transmit human diseases in their mind, the population has dwindled to 110.Those who live in the region traditionally have hunted chimpanzees for food, but commercial hunting has greatly increased facts animals killed, she said."We are training young people to change their desire to eat chimpanzees and develop an appetite for other meat like goat," Goodall said.Swap chimpanzee and gorilla meat is widespread throughout central Africa, despite the fact that both are protected species from the countries where they are hunted. The globe Wide Fund for Nature says chimpanzee and gorilla meat is commercially ready for sale in central Africa and is on restaurant menus in Paris and Brussels. The meat is served dried or smoked in addition to being steak or in stews.© MMI The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed
http://www.rotarysouth.org/michaelkors-com.html For those of you who took the trouble to write to Aberdeenshire Council in Scotland – a heartfelt thank you. Your efforts have proved successful. An incredible international name has now been saved for your world. And for those of you that do not know what I'm talking about – permit me to explain. We have in this country many of the quaintest places with some of the silliest names. However, there is one village, up on banking institutions of the river Don in Scotland, where every American tourist desires to be photographed. There they stand, grinning next to the sign which spells out the name of the place. And the name of the place is…. LOST. This raises many a transatlantic chuckle when holiday snaps are processed. Though the poor folk who live in Lost were becoming a little bit fed up. Because the village sign was this kind of tourist attraction that many of the tourists thought we would take it home with them. Thus people of Lost didn't know where we were holding, because the Lost sign was often Lost, if you see what I mean. But signs cost money, that's where Aberdeenshire Council comes in. The Council decided that Lost had lost a lot of Lost signs, and increasing Lost signs is purely for losers. Hence the Council set up a committee to locate a name people would leave alone. They eventually picked a suitably boring one: Donside Farm. There was, they rightly deduced, absolutely no danger of yank tourists stuffing a big tin register their bags with such an ordinary name as Donside Farm painted into it. What they hadn't bargained on was the international backlash. From state after state came US protest mail. Word travelled the world that Lost would soon be lost forever. Mail flooded in from every corner of Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand - even China. Overwhelmed and embarrassed, Aberdeen Council admitted defeat and sent engineers to set up a brand new Lost sign. Fantastic news. Except it's already been stolen. By Ed Boyle
