http://taniaroxborogh.com/uggclassicmini-uk.html DNA testing has been wonderful for identifying inherited diseases, and today it's being used more and more in paternity cases too, sometimes with surprising results. Health Contributor Dr. Emily Senay reports to the Early Show. "I cried. There was a great deal of emotion; it felt just like a death," recalls Morgan Wise about his a reaction to learning he was not the dad of his youngest son, Rauli.A DNA genetic test uncovered the reality: Rauli, one of four children from Wise's first marriage, ended up diagnosed with cystic fibrosis."So the question came up with my older sister, with her kids. She was going to ask them to tested to see if she had the gene and passed it to her children," he explains."We had family members concerned, and so I just said, 'You know, I'll just get tested,'" he says. Both parents must carry the gene for a child to have cystic fibrosis. To everyone's surprise, Wise was without the gene. This meant he wasn't Rauli's father. DNA testing is virtually 100 percent accurate. What is the news was devastating. "It was like someone had called and asserted, you know, you lost your boys," he admits that.Rauli was not his biological son along with the other two boys are not either. Only his 14-year-old daughter Carli was biologically his. "I still take a look at them, you know, the same. You already know, I wonder whom they belong to. But as far as my love for them, I still love them," he admits that. "He's still the father. He just doesn't want to be the 'check-in-the-mail' father," explains Robert Miller, Wise's attorney.Miller is attempting to reopen the divorce case so the biological father can be located and help support the boys. More NewsSince Wise happens to be considered the father, he must continue to support the children or go to jail. "The legal point was that we now have a father, required to pay your kids, for children who were not biologically his," explains Miller.Paternity testing for paternity is now easily obtainable and widely advertised and may only lead to more cases this way in the future. "I do now advise future divorced husbands in order to do DNA [testing], do it now. As if you're not, you can then resolve it prior to the divorce," he says. While DNA testing must be done in a licensed lab to become admissible in court, there are home DNA kits that can be purchased to get the same answers, and it's easy to do. A cotton swab is used to rub the interior of the cheek, and then it's put in an envelope or vial and delivered to a lab for testingThe average price is $300 to $400.Testing blood is usually preferred because you can get a sample of adequate size. But testing saliva is as accurate. And if you're dealing with people frightened of needles or who have had a blood transfusion recently, saliva is fine.©1999 CBS Worldwide Inc. All Rights Reserved
http://muvdigital.net/ When Columbine High School's halls fill with students in the future, more than two dozen new precautionary features will be in place, CBS News Correspondent Bob McNamara reports. Not only can there be triple the number of security cameras and self-locking doors, but for the advice of a task force studying school safety, panic alarms is going to be installed in offices to alert police to bother. There will be student hot lines to report incidents of harassment, intimidation and violence. And that i.D. cards will be required to be worn by students and staff."As a parent or gaurdian, I feel very strongly that students should wear I.D.s and faculty and every staff member in the high school," said Kelly Daniel. However the I.D. cards is often a fashion problem."The students that I have talked to are from the idea. Two students that were with us on the task force are also against the idea," said student Sergio Gonzalez. These types of apparent emergency radio confusion from the first minutes after the Columbine massacre started, school security and police will share the same radio frequency."On August 16th, we will be ready to take back this school and once again be Columbine High School," said Frank DeAngelis, the school's principal.Looking to learn from the massacre, a Colorado commission will review how authorities and college officials responded to the tragedy that left 15 people dead. The panel will recommend ways to prevent and prepare for similar events, plus a report will be issued on the public. "We need to learn as much as possible from Columbine to aid prevent similar tragedies," Gov. Bill Owens said Tuesday. The panel, that is financed with a $68,800 federal grant, is going to be formed after Jefferson County sheriff's deputies complete their investigation in the shooting attack. Emergency response crews, law enforcement officials agencies and SWAT teams received some criticism after the tragedy. "The goal is not to criticize or blame but to find out lessons across the board," said Troy Eid, the governor's chief counsel. The panel, to be composed of 12 experts on police officers, school safety and public education, will also review the emergency medical response and evacuation protocols and techniques used at Columbine. Owens announced plans to create the commission as Jefferson County school officials paid tribute to Dave Sanders, the sole teacher killed April 20 when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire and hurled bombs inside the school. Twelve students were also killed and 23 others injured prior to gunmen committed suicide. As gunfire and explosions echoed from the cafeteria, Sanders raced through Columbine's hallways, herding students to safety. Shot twice in the chest, he bled to death inside a classroom several hours later.
http://www.rotarysouth.org/michaelkors-com.html Robert Pastorelli, who played the screwball housepainter Eldin on "Murphy Brown," is discovered dead in his Hollywood Hills home as to what the coroner's office said could have been a drug overdose. He was 49. Coroner's office Lt. Ed Winter said Pastorelli's body was found by his assistant Monday in a bathroom. An autopsy was planned. "It's a possible accidental death," Winter said, adding, "There was drug paraphernalia found." On CBS' "Murphy Brown," he played Eldin Bernecky, an oddball housepainter for TV newswoman Murphy Brown, played by Candice Bergen. Eldin's work never usually get done because of his high artistic standards. He spends much of his time meddling in Murphy's life, often dispensing sage advice. Pastorelli finished assist John Travolta last month on the movie "Be Cool," the sequel for the comedy "Get Shorty." He played a hit man. "I am still can not grasp this tragic news," said "Be Cool" director F. Gary Gray. "Robert would have been a true professional and a total delight to utilize. My heart goes out to his family, and that he will be sorely missed." Pastorelli, born in New Brunswick, N.J., was an ambitious boxer in his youth. But a near-fatal car wreck on his 19th birthday ended his desires a pro sports career. He previously roles in such movies as "Outrageous Fortune" (1987), "Beverly Hills Cop II" (1987), and "Dances With Wolves" (1990). Pastorelli stayed with "Murphy Brown" from 1988 to 1994, dropping out when the sitcom's creator, Diane English, left. "The fourth and fifth year were different," he told Parade magazine in 1997. "It stopped being fun, and so i knew I had to move on. If I had stayed, it would have already been only for the money, and that's not what acting is centered on." http://gcthulin.com/cheapuggbootsonline-uk.html Under the big screens and big boards, Nevada is starting to sizzle. Here, where football and gambling in the past tied the knot, Super Bowl Sunday may be the annual anniversary blow out, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Axelrod. From the sports books of Sin city and the rest of Nevada, greater than $70 million will be bet this Super Bowl Sunday. That's legal money. Add in the illegal bets placed in backrooms and bookie joints, and now you're talking a blast at the of money. Informed estimates project $5 billion will be bet on Super Bowl XXXIII. 2 times zones from Las Vegas, a bookie's fax machine keeps spitting out wagers. Amateur day, because bookie calls it, is around the corner."Everybody from their mother, cousins, aunts, uncles, gas station attendants. . .I don't know anybody it doesn't bet the Super Bowl," the bookie said.In reality, he's now setting point spreads for 30 other bookmakers."The 30 guys that take my line service will write, I'd say, $3 million to $4 million of action," the bookie said. One bookie, one city. America's a huge place. Count the cities and perform math: that's how gambling's millions develop into gambling's billions. It's good for bookies and it's really good for Vegas. But is it good for the NFL? "Absolutely," said Mike Francesca. To Francesa, a radio talk-show host and former NFL commentator, it is rather simple: People watch the game to follow along with their bets."When you have cash the game, every whistle matters," one gambler explained."TV. NFL. Gambling can be a sweet circle," Francesca said. Where Francesa sees a sweet circle, the NFL sees a dangling noose. If there is even an indirect outcomes of gambling and the NFL, league second in command Jeff Pash won't acknowledge it."Our whole effort has been to try to remove betting from the game, to try to keep it from football," Pash said.At NFL headquarters, gambling is known as a real threat. They've seen betting scandals rock college sports at Boston College and elsewhere. The NFL knows its $3.5 billion in revenue rests about the game's integrity. The league cannot condone gambling. Within a world where papers publish point spreads and sports books appear on your local news, pro football and gambling seem more connected than previously. The NFL works challenging to prevent gambling from contaminating the overall game. So if you think the NFL would ever acknowledge that gambling could actually help it to thrive, don't bet on it. ©1999 CBS Worldwide Corp. All rights reserved
http://taniaroxborogh.com/uggclassicmini-uk.html Ready for some gourmet treats? CBS News Consumer Correspondent Herb Weisbaum nibbled his way through the latest in "fancy" foods at the Fancy Food Show in San francisco bay area. Here is his report. The toughest thing about covering the Fancy Food Show was deciding the place to start. Everywhere you looked there is something to eat. There were pans filled with fresh-cooked pasta, gourmet chocolates just begging being sampled, cheeses from around the world, and jams and jellies and sauces so hot they would set your mouth on fire.Needless to say, there were plenty of drinks around to wash it all down. One beverage called Breeze is made from almonds! An aloe vera dessert made from the aloe vera cactus was one of several strangest products. They say it's filled with vitamins, minerals and proteins. "It's almost like a melon," said one woman describing its flavor. Then there was clearly Kaipen. It looks like seaweed but is made from freshwater green algae that grows in Laos. "This method is harvested out of the Mekong and Am Khan rivers, and it's really called kai. When they press it into sheets, they call it Kaipen," said Ken Lee of Lotus Foods. To nibble on it for a snack or apply it a cooking wrap, like parchment paper. "It's mild, much less salty," said one woman who sampled it.Caryl Levine of Lotus Foods made blinis from the new line of rice flour ground from exotic grains grown in Asia. The pretty pastel-colored flour has a very different taste. "It's very light and has a wonderful roasted nutty flavor," Levine says. While we're talking about colorful, a new line of sugar is named Gem Sugar. This is Thai sugar crystals infused which has a variety of different tropical herbs that lend their color and not their flavor. The sweetener is custom-made for fine coffees and teas. Please take a teeny tiny ear of corn and turn it into popcorn, and also the result is the world's tiniest popcorn. The tiny corn is rare: Only 200 acres of computer are grown each year, and it is raised without pesticides. It tastes distinctive from regular popcorn. Because the kernels are very small, the tiny popcorn is nearly without hulls. Samples of new spread called Soy Easy were on display. It comes in three flavors, including Mediterranean olive. One woman sampler discovered it tastes like olives. You really can't tell it's made from tofu."Nobody's going to know that they're eating soy," said a female who sampled it.Lastly there was Smokehouse Salmon Chili, a hearty white bean chili made with chunks of wild Alaskan salmon marketed using the claim to be high in protein and occasional in calories and fat.For more in regards to the show, go to www.fancyfoodshows.com.
