http://muvdigital.net/ Local deputies arrested 12 anti-war protesters for violating a whole new ban on roadside parking and camping near President Bush's ranch, CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller reports.About four hours after the group pitched six tents and huddled in sleeping-bags and blankets, McLennan County sheriff's deputies arrested them for criminal trespassing. Many inside the group held up signs, including one which said "Give me liberty or supply a ditch."A dozen or so other demonstrators left the population right of way after deputies warned them they'd be arrested. The protest was set to coincide with Mr. Bush's Thanksgiving ranch visit. The arrests were created by more than two dozen deputies who calmly approached the demonstrators within their tents and asked whenever they wanted to walk out on their own or why not be carried. Two chose to be carried. They were to be taken to jail for booking. Those types of arrested was Daniel Ellsberg, the former Defense Department official who leaked the Pentagon Papers through the Vietnam war. He estimated it was his 70th arrest for assorted protests since the 1970s."Those people who finally saw over the Vietnam war saw through this war, and all sorts of actions that were necessary to end the Vietnam war is going to be necessary here," Ellsberg said Wednesday before his arrest. "I think the United states citizens will get us out of this (war)."Ellsberg became famous for his release of the secret documents, which indicated the federal government had deceived the public about if the Vietnam war could be won and the extent of casualties. Also arrested Wednesday was Ann Wright, who resigned her post being a senior diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia in 2003 in protest from the war with Iraq.Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan wasn't among the protesters Wednesday because of a family emergency in California, but she planned to get at the camp later inside the week."We are proud to be here," Dede Miller, Sheehan's sister, said hours before her arrest as she huddled in a blanket at the campsite. "This is just so important. What we did in August really moved us forward, which is just a continuation of it."In August, numerous demonstrators camped off the road during a 26-day protest led by Sheehan, whose 24-year-old soldier son Casey was killed in Iraq last year. But a month later, county commissioners banned camping in a county ditch and parking within 7 miles in the ranch, citing safety and traffic jam issues.Earlier this week, three demonstrators filed a federal lawsuit against McLennan County in the two local bans.During the last several weeks of their summer protest, the activists had camped over a private lot that a sympathetic landowner allow them use. That land is all about a mile from the Bush ranch. The president arrived at the ranch Tuesday evening which is being joined by his family, like the first lady, daughters Jenna and Barbara, his parents – the first kind president and first lady – with his fantastic mother-in law.
http://taniaroxborogh.com/uggclassicmini-uk.html The CBS News Political Unit is tracking the most recent campaign commercials. Francesca Gessner analyzes a fresh TV ad by Ny Senate contender Hillary Rodham Clinton. The Ad: Mission is Hillary Rodham Clinton's third TV ad from the New York Senate race. The 30-second ad features the very first lady speaking about health care, education, targeted tax cuts for families and creating new jobs. Mission began airing Tuesday across New York State.Audio: (Mrs. Clinton, to camera) "When I started this campaign, I'm not sure I knew quite what you should expect and you probably didn't either. But I've tried to stay focused on our common mission - building a difference for people. Lifting up our kids with better education and health care. Helping our families with tax cuts for school and long term care. Fitting in with create new jobs. If we reach past our divisions, there's a great deal we can do working together. I'm hoping you'll give me that chance."Visual:The ad shows the 1st lady sitting in a cozy family room environment speaking directly to the camera. Clinton is wearing a suit which has a turquoise cardigan sweater wrapped over her shoulders, accessorized with pearl earrings and necklace. The "Hillary" logo appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen after the ad.Fact Check: No inaccuracies. The tactic: Mission is the third within a series of positive ads recently released by Clinton's Senate campaign. Unveiled 48 hrs after New York GOP Congressman Rick Lazio jumped in to the Empire State's Senate race rather than Rudy Giuliani, Mission highlights popular, centrist issues for example education, health care, and new jobs. The ad aims to present Clinton as a positive, issues-oriented, above the fray candidate contrary to Lazio, who immediately went on the attack in his announcement speech by calling Clinton a liberal carpetbagger. Democrat Clinton said she was disappointed her opponent was "hurling insults as opposed to offering ideas," - which ad clearly attempts to portray the initial lady as "the issues candidate." The ad's focus also reflects the Clinton camp's want to paint Lazio as a conservative Newt Gingrich clone who would gut education and medical. But given Lazio's opening salvo, the 2 candidates will likely be competing fiercely for that center.
http://www.rotarysouth.org/michaelkors-com.html Former government researcher Wen Ho Lee says he hasn't found work since he was fired and prosecuted to create copies of sensitive nuclear weapons data."I have attempted to get a job in both the university and industry setting, but so far I have not been able to locate a job," Lee said in the interview in the July issue of the American Physical Society News."I am currently doing my own, personal research on semiconductor design. I hope that someday I can make a contribution towards the electronics industry."Lee, responding to written questions submitted by the online publication through an intermediary, said foreign-born scientists face difficulties getting jobs requiring security clearance."I feel that racial profiling may be a very complicated and long-standing problem," he stated. "It will take a long time even to make tiny progress."The Lee investigation caused nearly a couple of years of controversy over the alleged loss in nuclear secrets to China and lax security at the Energy Department's nuclear weapons laboratories.Lee, that has been a U.S. citizen since 1974 and spent 2 decades doing top-secret work at Los Alamos National Laboratory, happened in solitary confinement for nine months, though never arrested for spying. He pleaded guilty in September 2000 to a single count of downloading sensitive data to unsecured computer tape and was sentenced to time served.Lee claims he made tape copies of codes to protect his access to his work following a computer malfunction destroyed or damaged several files."I used the best technique that I knew to protect my files," Lee told the science publication. He explained the worst punishment he previously ever heard of for such violations was barring a staff member from work requiring a burglar clearance.Lee has an unlisted number and may not be reached for further comment. Phyllis Hedges, a Los Alamos attorney and Lee family friend, said Friday he still has had no luck to find a job in the weeks since he made his comments to the publication.
http://taniaroxborogh.com/uggclassictall-uk.html What would Henry Ford say? The corporation he built on the strength of assembly lines as well as the affordable Model T is reportedly considering a strategy to slash white collar staffing and benefits, as well as a new pricing strategy. Blue collar cuts meanwhile are continuing, including offers of early retirement, with company representatives meeting Tuesday to talk about the details with union leaders – have been ordered not to reveal information to reporters. The idea is always to slim down Ford's costs to match its smaller market share – and along the way, restore profitability.Ford, the nation's No. 2 automaker, lost $1.4 billion from the first half of this year and announced in January it would cut up to 30,000 jobs and shut 14 facilities by 2012. But company officials say this is their explanation are working on a plan to speed up the restructuring. Many industry analysts expect additional cuts to be made when Ford's Board of Directors meets Wednesday and Thursday to debate the next round of restructuring, referred to as "Way Forward" plan.According to The Wall Street Journal, Ford's board of directors is expected to review a plan to cut white-collar staffing, benefits as well as other costs by 30 percent within an expanded restructuring. The cuts on the company's salaried workers are likely to be deeper than the 4,000 white collar jobs eliminated earlier this year. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that details of the cost-cutting efforts could be disclosed as soon as Friday. It says Ford's board can also be expected to hear details about a new pricing strategy to keep prices more detailed the suggested retail price. The Detroit Free Press reports another switch. It says Ford has do not sell its credit financing arm, as have been previously reported.Cuts still march forward on the blue collar side.Leaders from United Auto Workers union locals across the country gathered Tuesday to talk about Ford Motor Co.'s financial situation and discuss the company's promises to expand buyout and early retirement provides all U.S. hourly production workers. no previous page next 1/2
